Giving Glory to God

As people who have put their faith in God and have decided to follow Him, one or our tasks is to glorify Him. Remember what the Scripture says in Psalm 34:1-3 “I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together.” So what does this mean for us? How do we glorify the Lord on a daily basis?

Most people glorify God on a weekly basis when they go to church but before we can learn to glorify God daily we need to understand what it mean to do this. It means: to give praise to God, or to make clear the character of God by praising, admiring, and giving honor to…resulting in God receiving more attention than normal. So how do we do this on a regular or daily basis?

This must be an intentional or planned activity. And being an activity it takes planning and effort. If we hope it will happen spontaneously then we will be frustrated and disappointed. Planning in advance how we will glorify God in various situations will allow us to act without being caught off-guard. Determining that now will ensure that God does indeed get that glory.

So does God get the glory in our homes, at work, while we drive, in times of sorrow and frustration, and when we are excited and joyful? Determine now to give glory to God, all the time, regardless of what is happening. Come let us glorify the Lord together.
